Generation Green Conference: A Milestone for Kosovo’s Sustainable Future
Circular Change was delighted to contribute to Helvetas Kosovo’s inspiring Generation Green Conference, a high-impact event highlighting the green and circular transition for Kosovo and the Western Balkans. Featuring over 200 participants, the conference fostered discussions on radical innovation, sustainable practices, and empowering youth for the green transition.
Marco Antonio Segovia Bifarini, from Circular Change (CC), joined a distinguished panel discussing green jobs, corporate leadership, and innovative entrepreneurship. Alongside Ljubomir Pejovski (Makstil), Sergiy Maslichenko (EBRD Kosovo), and Johan Reiman (Volvo Group Sweden), Marco emphasized the need for systemic thinking and skill development to navigate the challenges of circular and sustainable growth. Additionally, he showcased the work of CC on the Circular Economy Roadmap for Kosovo, which CC co-created together with Deloitte BiH and analysed its main outcomes, consequences and implications for next steps and how this is a good first step towards Kosovo’s circular economy transformation.
Moderated by CEO of YMCA Kosovo and Youth Development Expert Dorina Lluka-Davies, the discussion underscored the importance of youth-driven initiatives and private-sector leadership in the green transition.
Key insights from the conference emphasized that:
Radical innovation is essential to accelerate sustainability.
Kosovo’s youth possess the potential and talent required for meaningful transitions.
Green skills and systems thinking must be integrated across sectors to enable circular solutions.
Despite challenges, Kosovo’s frontrunners are steering the region in the right direction.
The event also featured prominent keynote speakers and contributors, including Matthias Herr (Helvetas Eastern Europe Director), Jonas B. Westerlund (Swedish Ambassador to Kosovo), Jean-Philippe Hagmann, and Ummuhan Bardak (European Training Foundation)..
Their Conference was sponsored by the Embassy of Sweden, EBRD, and ProCredit Bank Kosova.
As we reflect on the valuable insights shared, Circular Change looks forward to turning these discussions into action and advancing the green agenda across Kosovo and the Western Balkans.
